Faith Ringgold




Tar Beach (Part I from the Woman on a Bridge series), 1988. Acrylic on canvas bordered with printed, painted, quilted, and pieced cloth, 74 5/8 x 68 1/2 inches.
Grade 6 students will be looking at the work of African American artist Faith Ringgold in term 3. We will be making Quilts based on the design cycle , the learner profile and the learner profile attitudes. Students can find information on this artist and view her work on the sites below;

HOMEWORK
Think of more ideas about how you could decorate your story quilt. Write them down in your workbook.
Bring in things to decorate your quilt with, for example;
Bits of fabric
Coloured paper and card
decorative items and so on
